Just want to share what I’ve explored and tried with AI.
Think of this as a quick and simple documentation of my journey with AI.
1. Topaz Video AI
This tool has been on my radar for quite some time, as I’m already familiar with Topaz’s product line.
Previously, I only used their Photoshop plugins. But after the AI boom, Topaz pivoted into AI territory with upscaling for images, and now video — which is quite powerful.
This time I tested two things:
- Upscaling x2
- Increasing frame rate from 25fps to 60fps (frame interpolation)
My MacBook Pro could still handle it, but the process was extremely long. For context: rendering a 30-second video took about 15 minutes.
Of course, I know that for local AI video rendering, a proper desktop-class NVIDIA GPU would be much more efficient and faster.
Still, now I’ve tested it, I understand the possibilities and options for scaling and frame interpolation in my video editing workflow.
For example, I’ll definitely use the upscaling feature more often in the future — especially when I want to zoom in or highlight details in videos.
This is especially useful for social media videos that are already heavily compressed, like those shared on WhatsApp. HD helps, but compression is still obvious. Upscaling gives me a way to restore some quality.
2. Perplexity Comet
Finally, I got an invitation to install and log in with my own Perplexity account to try their AI-powered agent browser, Comet.
It’s still Chromium-based, so technically you can install all your Chrome extensions. But I decided to start fresh, so I didn’t log in to anything else.
First test: I logged into one of my WordPress admin dashboards, then used the “Assist” function to control and edit within Comet.
Honestly, it’s both amazing and a bit scary — because you can literally see the AI controlling your browser. The screen scrolls, clicks happen on their own, and it’s like watching the AI “work” live.
I asked it to:
- Create a new page
- Add an SEO title and meta description
- Upload photos to the new page
It executed everything smoothly — really impressive.
Next, I tried logging into Runway and asked the AI to pick an image, convert it into a video, upscale it, and download it. This time, it didn’t fully succeed — almost there, but I realized I probably needed to give more detailed prompts and clearer instructions.
Still, it’s a fascinating start, and I’m definitely going to experiment more with Comet in the future.
